Town of Grafton Wisconsin 9-6-09. Family get together at Margee's and Dominic's house

On a beautiful Labor Day the Rossetto family and friends got together on the shore of Lake Michigan for some fun and camaraderie. We all had a wonderful time visiting, eating, drinking and some serious competition. The feature of the day was the long drive contest. The object was to drive the golf ball into the lake from the bluff. In order to witness the splash you needed to hit the ball approx. 400 yards. As you can see from the video there are many variations on swinging a golf club. The most novel was my sister Lilliana's adaptation of the swing we used in Italy cutting wheat. I guess old habits never die. The champion for 2009 was my nephew Frank. He was the only one to reach the lake. Andy still has the distance record, determined by my observation, but he could not defend his title because of school. You may Enjoy the pictures and video by clicking on the thumbnails.

Madison Wisconsin 11-11-07. Weekend at Bucky's

All is well with Wisconsin football again. After losing at Ohio State, the Badgers pounded Margaret's alma matter, The University of Michigan, 37-21. The weather was tolerable for early November in Wisconsin as only a light jacket was needed with the temperature around 50F. Most of the students were only wearing Badger sweat shirts or tee shirts. A few of them wore no shirt except for red paint.

As we arrived in Madison on Saturday morning the students were in full party mode around Andy's neighborhood. Andy was anxiously waiting outside by his apartment as we arrived late, from Milwaukee, underestimating the amount of traffic in Madison on game day. We got to the game after the start with the score still at zero. It seemed like as soon as we arrived The Badgers started dominating on both offense and defense. With about 3 and a half minutes to go in the 1st quarter Beckum caught a touchdown pass from Donovan. Michigan got lucky during the fourth quarter with some questionable calls from the officials allowing them to catch up. Relief came with 3 minutes to go when Brown ran 6 yards for a touchdown. Click on the pictures for the last 2 touchdowns. After an enjoyable meal on State street we headed back home happy with the result, except for Margee. But she is a good sport and was happy anyway because Andy's team won.

Madison Wisconsin 6-12-04. Wisconsin High School Tennis Tournament

Andy Rossetto wins 4 out of 4 matches to clinch the state of Wisconsin division 2 tennis championship for University School. In the semifinals Andy wins by a score of 6-1, 6-2. The team wins all seven matches. The final was more difficult as the team just won by a score of 4-3. Andy wins both matches by a score of 6-3 and 6-0.

Andy had a great season with a record of 7-1 in the conference and 14-6 overall.

Barrie, Canada 6-24-01.   Andoro Racing Second Annual Golf Tournament

The previous golf tournament was held in Florida, at the Ponte Vedra Resort, under windy conditions giving the advantage to Tony Coello's long drives. The second round was moved, up north this time, to Canada in still and hot conditions. The Andoro Coello Racing Team took the advantage of a free day from racing to substitute to a different kind of competition.

The 5768 yard par 72 Valley Course at the Horseshoe Resort was very challenging, with deep roughs and heavily wooded. As usual Tony went for the long ball with Niki trying to keep pace. Andy and Dominic were happy just to keep it on the fairway and not having to chase the ball in the woods.

Tony's long ball was no advantage this weekend as his chip shots kept sailing over the green. Niki's putting was everywhere except in the hole. Andy and Dominic kept glancing the balls off the trees.

In this game the trash talk is usually better than the game. But it is nonetheless good fun and after a hard race weekend it is nice to have a few laughs.

Ponte Vedra 1-1- 01. Andoro Racing 1st Annual Golf Tournament

The Christmas day golf tournament was to be a match between the Fox karts team mates consisting of Dominic Rossetto, Andy "Skills" Rossetto, Tony "Spaulding" Coello, and Todd DeGrand. The match was to be played at the Robert Trent Jones re-designed Ocean Course at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. After looking at the lineup Todd declined the invitation. He came up with the lame excuse his mother would not allow him to drive on Christmas day. Tony arrived ready to play except for one problem, he was wearing the wrong attire. After a long decision he decided to change to shorts. On match day the weather was sunny, cool, with the wind blowing at 23 to 25 mph. Tony knew something the rest of us did not, that is, that shorts would give him an advantage on windy days. Shorts are more stable when standing on the tee with a strong wind blowing. Long pants flap in the wind throwing your balance off. Notice how stable his shorts are in windy conditions. After hitting a bucket of balls we proclaimed ourselves ready to play. Tony and Andy teamed up in one golf cart, Dominic and his caddy Max Leitschuh in the other. After a few holes it became apparent that Tony had the advantage. His drives were straighter and the putting steady. With our pants flapping in the wind we had no chance.

The other problem is that my sand wedge acted more like a shovel. Tony even mentioned that I could get a job with his dad's construction company digging footings. My sand wedge was so bad that I am having the club pro check it out and give me a report. Andy's problem was putting. Because of his light weight and strong wind, his pants acted like sails. He could not  take an easy shot, instead he would whack the ball past the hole farther than the original shot. After the match we looked at the "Rules of Play" and noticed that it stated "Proper golf attire required at all times" Looking at Tony's shorts it can be plainly seen that they are not proper golf attire. Therefore the protest. We will not be publishing the golf scores until the protest is settled.
